For My birthday this year we got to go to Tri-Cities, Washington for Hunters baseball tournament. Not exactly a birthday present for me, but we did get to take some time off work and spend some good family time together. We were even luck enough to have Taely join us. The sun was shining and as it turned out, the team came to play and even took home a trophy. During the down times, we played at the local park, swam in the hotel pool, ate out with the team and did a little go-cart racing.
Sunday was an incredibly long day. Saturday the team won one and lost one, just barely making it into the play offs... they were 8th place and you had to be in the top 8 to play. Sundays games were single elimination with the potential of playing 4 games. Hunters team tied the first game, and with a California tie breaker, managed to win. It was so exciting. Game two, if you can believe it also ended in a tie and again, the team managed to pull off a win. This game Hunter pulled off a beautiful three run home run to keep us in the game. It was amazing. Game three, Yes, again, ended in a tie and amazingly enough Hunter pulled another homerun moving the team ahead and untimately winning yet our third game of the day and putting them into the championship game. Tired and dirty, the fouth game started at 7:00 pm. Keep in mind Game one started at 8:00 am with the team being at the field 1 hour prior to warm up. The Championship game was also a very close game. Unbeknownst to the players, the coaches had made a deal to end the game, win or lose once the sun set. Well, the last inning Hunters team was on a roll and finally pulled ahead by 6 runs, BUT the sun set and since they had not completed a full inning, the games reverts back to the last full inning and the other team was ahead at that point. It was awful! Hunters team took home second place and they all recieved trophys. At 9:30 pm we left Tricities for the 4 hour drive home, and to work in the morning. What a day!
